Does anyone know of a fix for rattling roof struts, other than roof down? I've tried repositioning and tightening the fixings but can't get rid of the annoying noise when the struts are locked out.

Can't seem to find anything in RoverGuage or EcuMate that'll help either.

Mine rattled when there was insufficient tension in the struts when locked out. I ended up adding a few repair washers behind the bottom bracket and that fixed my rattle.

as above.. but you might find the rear holes in the back panel are slotted.. .just move them up a tad to get a better lock-out... if they are in tension they should not rattle at all smile

I did both of the above but used just one washer behind the lower bracket. I made sure the bolt through the rear boot panel was at top of its access hole (slot). It's a lot easier to do if there are two of you. The trick is to eliminate all movement in the joint when the strut is locked. Given the bad state of the road surfaces around my way every little jolt was causing the joints to rattle and it was getting on my nerves.

But now, joy of joys, I've got the dreaded fault code 48. You cure one thing and the next fault in the 'you'll never fix me sucker' queue pops it little head up.

Ha ha, thanks Dave and sorry to hear about your new problem.
I know what you mean about fixing them though.

Mine is usually "Ha, you have some money still in the bank! Spend it on THIS Sucker!"

Hi,

I adjusted with a washer to give more tension on the struts which helps but on rough roads the joints can flex and hence rattle. Where the 2 struts lock against each other there is a small piece of rubber to stop this. I found over time the rubber compresses so its paper thin and no longer works. I replaced the old rubber pads - cut up some bicycle rubber inner tube and stuck on with evostick. Rattles all gone.
