Well i managed to fall off my defy on Monday.

The resulting damage is one broken collar bone and 3 ribs frown
So has anyone else been in the same boat?

If so how long until you can be cycling again?

The Dr reckoned it would be 2 weeks before i can drive.
Cheers
Clive

Made a mess of mine and was cycling about 3 weeks after. Hurt a bit but it's not a bad thing to break. Try not to watch any comedy on tv, the ribs won't thank you for laughing.

3 ribs could take longer to heal than the collar bone

I've broken both, although not at the same time, Collar Bone was about 6 weeks I recall. The ribs took a couple of months before they were back to scratch

It depends on how long it decides to take to fuse together. I was told after 4 weeks that I should be much better but I still couldn't really move my arm after 8 weeks.

The NHS were going to pin it but it sorted itself out a lot in week 9 or so. I think I would have been OK to ride a bike a few weeks after that but somebody stole the fecking thing as I was lying in and out of unconscious in hospital. wes.

In the 2003 Tour de France Tyler Hamilton broke / cracked his collarbone on the first stage and not only went on to finish the tour but also won Stage 16 with a 142km solo breakaway.

All you need is Rule #5. smile

Be wary of getting back on the road, if only because if you fall on it again you'll just snap it. The pros reckon they're back on the turbo within a couple of weeks, although when I bust mine I was barely back wking in that time.

Broke mine when I was younger, took around 8 weeks until I could do sports stuff again, after 6 months I broke it again in the exact same place (hasn't fully fussed together) I now have a kink in my collar bone and it still doesn't feel as strong as the other side, so don't rush it!

You can sit on a turbo and do as much as the pain will let you, your body will scream back at you if you are doing too much.

Big George broke his with 4 days to go in the 2009 tour and still lead Mark out for two stage wins before the end of the tour.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Well I think I'll skip the riding for a month and buy a cheapie turbo.

Its an arse as I was going to do my track accreditation, oh well.

My wife actually asked if I was going to pack in riding! As if.....
