Camper insurance Mk1 Transit and 24yo driver
Discussion
So after a few weeks chasing Bedford CF Campers I have somehow managed to buy this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1975-ford-transit-mk-1-/...
Now looking at the insurance quotes for the CFs it was palatable. The Transit on the other hand is modified (2.5Di engine and 5spd box) and I am only 24. The regular camper online bits seem to throw a hissy fit upon entry (or attempted entry) of the details
Anyone have any recommendations? I shall be having a nose at Flux in the morning (They were the cheapest with my modified Landie.)

As much as I hate Flux they were the only company to offer a "Van conversion in the making policy". This means that you can insure at a rate between commercial vehicle and fully fledged camper thus reducing your premium. Their policy allows you to take a year before the van is declared a proper camper via DVLA route.
I'm not sure if they would take a modified vehicle but I would state to them that due to the age of the original engine it was impossible to find one.. very plausible considering the age of the CF (1800/2300 slant four?) engine.
The one point I would make with this policy is that they royally screw you if you cancel at any time. I bought the wrong van to start a conversion with then realised and had to sell it. I know I should have asked the question when I took it out but didn't expect to have to cancel. When I cancelled it after 3 weeks cover they charged me £200 for the privilege!
