Damn, just bought another Xbox game, wrong region.....
Discussion
That makes it the third game in a couple of months at $50 a pop. I double and triple checked the lists I can find about which games are compatible with which regions etc, but I can confirm Tomb Raider NTSC/J (Asia and Japan) definitely does not play on a PAL Xbox 360.
I bought Doom in the USA a month ago, that too is wrong region. Several other games I bought over there play perfectly well, COD, Gears of War etc.
We have a UK PAL Xbox but live in the Philippines, so getting games is a bind.
So, is there an easy way to 'open region' an Xbox360, or is it really as complicated as the Youtube videos show, with hardware and software and flashing and all?

Yes, there is a way. Take it to the local video games shop, pay a nice girl $75 and she reprograms it to play any region, and to let me save complete games to the hard drive, no disc needed.
yes but then you run the risk of when you log on to the internet that you are permabanned thro your console and your gamer tag.
for pure frivolous buying, you need an xbox from each different region like someone i know......

Our internet connection is too slow to take advantage of any on-line gaming, so getting banned makes little difference. for pure frivolous buying, you need an xbox from each different region like someone i know......
I once lodged a bunch of points with Xbox Gold to buy an on-line game, and only when I had done that did it decide I was in the wrong region to let my buy the game.....

and.. if you ever want to download DLC or log onto live to browse games to download of what have you, you will still be banned if your console is hacked btwSlink said:

But the only other choice is spend money for another local Xbox: 16,000 peso : £275Which we'll do if and when the current one fries or melts down. We run a fan on it all the time, as it gets almost too hot to touch. Our last one did the red ring of death trick, probably overheated.
Buying Tombraider, for $50, and finding it won't play, was the reason we finally got the Xbox doctored.
I appreciate the offer though mate.
I have only played about 8 hours of Gears Of War; Judgement in the last few weeks, whereas before I used to play every night for a few hours. Seem to be busy with loads of other stuff nowadays.
