Anyone recommend a wheelchair?

This has got to be the oddest thread I have ever done.

ANyway, I need to buy my mother a wheelchair. She's currently got a self powered behemoth which is fine, just a problem to take her anyway so I need a light folding one. Preferably cheap.
I assume that wheelchairs are homogeneous but I simultaneously assume that I'm probably wrong so is there anything I need to watch out for?

Can't recommend a specific one but why are you thinking of buying? Mine's a basic light weight folding with big wheels at back rather than 4 small, at our preference, and came free via my district nurse - I think occupational health do the actual supply and delivery, but the district nurse facilitated it and measured me up.

Good advice. I didn't know you could do that.
Do you have to be registered disabled or anything, or can I just phone them up and ask for one?

I see the district nurses due to ongoing illness, but the GP surgery will know your mother's condition and that she needs one so I'd speak to them and ask how you progress.
