rolleyes

The trim panels have to come off from the transmission tunnel, it doesn't just pull off or unscrew.

If you're lucky, and he's not talking about beer on rhe Dog & Duck thread, TonyH will be along to explain in full yes

I did mine so anyone can do it. Remove the rear shelf behind the seats. There are five or six screws along the length of the silver strip. Remove those and the silver strip comes off. You can then slide back and out the rear part of the centre tunnel. Once you slide that back you will see two more screws just to the rear of the gear level surround. Remove those and then you can slide the whole gear stick part of the centre tunnel back. Push down on the gear stick and turn 90 degrees anticlockwise to detach it from the base. Lift up the centre section and unplug the boot release and door release switches.

The old gear knob and surround is held in place by three screws on the underside of the section. Take them out and remove the old knob and put the new one in.
Assembly is the reverse of the above, pushing down and turning 90 degrees clockwise to attach the gear knob to the base.

I don’t think I missed anything out. Took about 20 minutes.

Rush of blood to the head. It was such an easy upgrade, like the interior LED lighting. I was going to get Ade to do it when the service was done but I decided to have a stab myself.

That V12V/DBS gear knob definitely makes a positive difference to the gearchange.

I’d like one of these, something to rest my hand on from time to time.

Could it be converted to do something else, idea such as operate the navigator button?
