Hi all - I am very close to pulling the trigger on a beautiful dark blue/grey 997 C2S convertible. It is an 06 model, 05 registration, fairly priced. Exterior is in perfect conditions, interiors are OK but not 100% perfect - understandable given age of the car and seller has not really cleaned/dressed it up for sale. My question to the forum: are there any interior detailing specialists that can minimize all small marks from leather/roof/dashboards? At what cost? I see plenty who can detail the external paint (no need here) but have not come across any which will focus on interiors. thank you

Can't see anything wrong with that picture?

Reminds me of a recent thread noting that buyers of used Porsche are expecting the car to look showroom new.

Just use and enjoy, when something breaks, fix it or get it retrimmed :-).

Looks like a lovely car.

Seriously?
Leather - sat on, not looked at.
Roof - folded down in all weathers obviously.
Dashboard - looked past, not at.

Unless someone has taken an axe to it - just BUY IT!

No amount of interior detailing is going to fix those standard seats!

wink

Only joking, the condition itself looks good to me.

+1

If you want a car with an "as new" interior, then you will need to buy a new car.

That looks quite tidy for an 8 year old car...

Can't see anything wrong with it meself smile
If exterior is good and everything else stacks up, get it bought!
If there are minor interior blemishes and you're OCD I'm sure there'll be someone who can take care of em for you!!

Plenty cars going around that are 5 year old + and would pass as nearly new. Nothing wrong with having high standards smile

I recently bought a 2005 997 2S, the exterior was in excellent condition but the interior whilst in very good condition has some wear and tear. For example scratches and wear around the door handles, window switches, glovebox catch and particularly the centre console around the ashtray and handbrake. there are also some light scratches in the leather on the dashboard and windscreen pillars.

I had been used to driving quite new cars before the Porsche and this wear and tear took a bit of getting used to but as someone has already said, what can you expect from an eight year old car.

One thing I can tell you is this, once you buy a Porsche and drive it, you won't give a monkeys about a bit and wear and tear on the interior(or exterior come to that).

Unfortunately the only way to get a new condition interior is to stump up another £50k and get a new one.

Thank you all guys, feedback much appreciated. Of course I wasn't idiotically complaining about the car as some of you implied... I know that what you get for 28K can't look exactly like whet you get for 78K. But I was just wondering on a practical level if anybody had any specific suggestion of a specialist in London & surroundings who could do the interior detailing work? Anyways, I did close my eyes and listen to the PSE on my test drive, I confess i was sold on the noise alone!

A good detailer can do a great job, on say paintwork and can give an interior a very effective deep clean. Unfortunately scratched interior plastics and trims are pretty much irreparable even by the best detailers.

When I bought my Cayman (similar age to your Carrera) I wasn't happy with some of the scratches on the interior also.

The dealer arranged to have the window switch surrounds, door handle pulls and a couple of other bits, re-coated/painted and when I picked the car up it was as good as new, I was very impressed and keep meaning to ask them who they used and what product was used. Its been painted in a kind of soft texture paint, exactly like the original finish.

I also polished the plastic sill trims to remove scratches, this can be done with normal car polishes and a DA polisher.

So it is possible to spruce up the interior plastics for minimal cost and bring it up to a standard you'd expect (because everybody has a different view of how they want their car to look)

I wouldnt buy a convertible without heated seats. Try them once and they become a must have like PSE. Seriously, in this country theyre a must have option..

If you're in London then get this man to take s look and sort if he can: Dean 07852 120134

I've got no link to him beyond the fact that he's done a great job for me on my last two cars, both .997s.
