Can I say a big hello please?

I'm an interloper from the TVR forum but I just bought an Alfa 159 TI and I'm very excited. Can't wait to pick it up.

I asked my TVR mates for advice on what car to buy and you can see from the link that there were lots of different suggestions rolleyes

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I'm looking to get some new plates made up and I wanted to put some text along the bottom - just the model details really - but I think it should be TI but I've been told it should Ti - which is it?

Cheers,
Andrea

TI, caps, meaning Turismo Internazionale. Older Alfas did use the Ti format.

That said, on the 156 the boot badge said 'TI', and the 159 changed to say 'ti', so it's kind of anyone's guess.

Definitely ti - all lower case, same as it is on the car. yes

You've gone for the same model I had, hope you have as few issues as I did. thumbup

Hopefully my years of TVR ownership will stand me in good stead if I do have any problems! Standard toolkit is placcy ties and gaffa tape!

It's an 09 plate and they've offered me a warranty package which I'm seriously thinking about taking out. I've got 6 months warranty with the car anyway and they're changing the belt, doing the MOT, full service and a few little repairs around the car that need a bit of attention.

It's such a lovely looking car and I'm not used to driving something that everyone else has got. I test drove a 320 and looked at a 520, but they just didn't do it for me! BMW might be bullet proof but they were just so dull and uninspired to drive. The Alfa made me feel special - definitely a heart over head decision!

Thanks for the 'ti' advice - keen to get it right on my nice new plates!

In terms of classic Italian cars, ti used to stand for iniezione ie fuel injection

Eg GTi gran turismo iniezione

GTV gran turismo veloce

GTa gran turismo alleggerita etc etc

Ti as in touring internationale is more BMW speak although the Alfasud ti was not fuel injected so the term became abused per se- pedant over and lets not argue over what GTaM stands for...

Alfa used the ti designation long before they used fuel injection!
