Quick question - has anyone successfully replaced the cigarette lighter with an after market one without:

A. Frying their wiring loom

B. Breaking anything else?

The PH search is bust at the moment but from an old thread there's some comments like

"Unfortunately after fitting a dodgy TVR cig. lighter and having a short in the wireing i wouldnt have the confidence to try that. The short ended up costing £5,000."

and

"Re: the Cig Lighter - this is widely documented, and unfortunate."

Although it doesn't seem to be massively documented and I'd rather it wasn't unfortunate to the tune of 5K!!

Reference: here

Also any good recommendations on where to pull an extra +12V feed connected to the lights (for my light up replacement silver key switch)?

The wiring diagram implied there was a feed to the cigarette lighter (which I was going to use) but there only seems to be a ground and +12V continually wired instead to the main cigarette lighter unit.

All thoughts much appreciated!

Hi Judder,

I replaced the lighter in my Cerb without any issues. It was no cheap one from the internet but a quality one from my local car parts supplier.

good luck

Perfect - thanks for the advice.

I have one from an Aston Martin so hoping that with it's pedigree it should behave better than the dodgy ones quoted before wink
