Expect it to be raining in Essex tomorrow paperbag

It would appear to be a proper little bargain for what I picked it up for, seems mechanically solid (I reserve the right to change my mind when I get a chance to give it a going going over) and has had the outriggers done along with a few bushes and the clutch.

The paintwork was the reason for the low price, but looking at the overall package the price of getting it painted along with a couple of other little touches would be more than covered by the hike in value of the car. I won't be getting it painted for a while though, the plan is for it to give me a few giggles out on track first.

I am going to spend the rest of tonight reading through the bible and figuring out what bits I need to change first biggrin

Right, experienced long term owners, what consumable spares do I need to gather into a big pile?

  • Dissy cap
  • Rotar arm
  • HT leads
  • Couple fuel relays
  • 100amp fuses
  • Belt
Am I missing anything else Chimaera specific that can leave me kicking a wheel in frustration?

I decided that as it is a bank holiday weekend I should really get off my arse and get it on the road, I had only a short test drive when I bought it and a quick blast up the motorway to get it home as it was sorn'd.

Had a little cruise up to the city last night for a quick beer and to take my rose tinted spectacles off to make a to do list, so about an hour ago was the first time that I properly gave it a kicking down a dual carriageway and through the lanes.

I am in love, I now understand all of the posts I read about them being addictive. I came from a fairly quick car anyway (played about with audi s4) but the kick this thing gives, and the noise as it squirms about at the back. The entertainment is unreal, it's been ages since I have driven something that keeps on making me giggle to myself, I keep catching passengers in other cars looking at it and a kid in the petrol station actually said wow earlier as I started it up.

The plan was to start getting loads of parts together and I had already talked a mate into painting it for me, but I think that it is all going to be put on hold until winter so that I can spend all of my pennies on petrol and giggles thumbup

That's great to hear, I've had mind 18 months and it still obsesses me. Enjoy your car and find the Niggles as you go, sort em out and you have a rare beauty. Best thing I ever did was take mine to a Tvr specialist, in the first wk and get them to fully check the beast out! You know where to spend your money straight away! Goodluck, if your like me your forehead will be burnt in no time? Happy tivvin.

Had my first real TVR experience this morning on the way to work, it happened whilst blasting along on an unlit country road. No not that, I had the full beam on for over a minute until I figured out that it was probably the cause of the melting plastic smell hurl

As this is the only thing I have to moan about I am happy, I shall buy some carrots tomorrow and leave the full beam off.
