So, i concluded domestic negotiation to re-enter the world of porsche by trading my R32 next spring, with the understanding the car was registered in my wife's name.... a small compromise... but I get her X5.... so I got my visa out for a 997 deposit.... but looking at the state of the market it seems a 15k mile 2002 turbo can be purchased for 65k 'ish, similar cash for more dash..... since the wife would be more than content with a turbo trinket I was wondering if anyone could give me the running cost impact, particulary since the 997 now has an 18k service interval...... pre-kids i've had a sequence of 993, 996's, what is the difference in running cost between a normally aspirated and turbo car......

If it looks good then I will probably watch the market drop slightly and grab a 2yr old turbo....

Many thanks

I don't wish to sound harsh but if we're talking a vehicle for, primarily, road use, then I fail to see there's even a question here.

The 996tt is by far and away the most accomplished supercar all-rounder except for perhaps the Gallardo but for the money nothing comes close.

Buy one for under £70k, spend a bit more on tweaks, springs unt 'zorst and you'll easily have an exploitable, tractable 600 bhp with which to simply murder anything and everything in 99.99% of conditions.

There's been plenty of debate on this one, see 997 vs 996 topic.

Certainly think you'll get more bangs for your bucks with the turbo, not sure about running costs, as i've only had mine a couple of months.

If you're thinking trackdays, you've GOT to try a GT3 1st !!!!
