Failed to start, any clues?

Parked up my 97 Griff 500, came back an hour later, tried to start as normal, ignition light illuminated, fuel pump ran up and pressurised, turned the key and starter motor did nothing and not a sound from the starter solenoid. Couldn't see anything obvious under the bonnet and don't know why, but I jiggled all four connectors on the coil, tried starting again and bingo she fired up. The obvious question: is the coil connected to the starter solenoid, or was it just a coincidence she decided to start? I've started the car at least 10 times since with no problem. Should mention that the starter motor is relatively new, probably a good 150 starts since fitted.
Any ideas? Could it be just a dodgy connection on the coil?

It sounds like the immobiliser circuit for the starter is starting to have issues. It is apparently caused because the immobiliser is wired incorrectly and eventually the starter motor circuit goes .

I put up with it for a while, the 'hot start' fix cured it for a while but eventually I needed a new immobiliser unit which Karl Baker fitted Although he's now moved to France). There's another guy being recommended on here for alarm work but I don't have his details

King lead from dizzy to coil suspect. Check for good sparks.
