26'' wheels only. Kona geometry is my favorite. All budgets considered. Preferably frame only but good value complete bikes also to be considered.

Onone Inbred slotted drop out. Shame is they bumped the price up recently but still great value for money, I have 2 of these frames and they ride very well and have a great finish.

+1 on the on-one products, I have a scandal 29er, made it up as a single carbon forks lovely lightweight mtb for training and winter rides.
Handle really well, back slides controllably and really nice chuckable feel to it.

But the finish is rubbish compared to more expensive marques. Soon looks rusty..

or if you find a frame you like either use something like a philcentric bottom bracket or a white industries eno hub, both of which gives you chain tension adjustability without bolting on a tensioner. The other option is to look for the magic ratio which gives you decent chain tension, there are several calculators online for working it out based on chainstay length.

I actually had a 2008 Explosif - sadly I am a 19 inch and 18 is probably that tiny
Bit too small... Not bad value though and tempting.

On-one are a classic but as I have a DeKerf I feel I don't want to buy one Incase the
Inbred turns out to be a better bike than the original frame it ripped off!

Depends on your budget but I'd wait till the new model stock arrives and get a Cotic Simple

£100 should build up a reasonable spec bike if you can cope with some s/h parts to get you going...yes its 29" but I cant see the point of a 26" s/s personally, if you only have one gear you want to make the most of your momentum!...

Or go completely leftfield with a Singular. Depends what you are using it for really, I've seen people race on Singulars around Ashton Court for example. Not really off road to some but its still loose surface and some elevation changes...
