Renewal is up for my breakdown cover. When I bought the chimeara last year I switched my policy to a personal one rather than vehicle ( golf GTI ) . Now renewal has come back at £85 which isn't bad for 2007 golf GTI and TVR Chimaera,,,, however the policy will not cover the TVR after June as it is 16 years old so a bit pointless.

for those with cars over 16 yrs who or what do you do ? Thanks.

AA with parts and labour warranty. I do it through quidco cashback site which gives me £70 cashback. Total cost for two cars £200 minus £70= £130. The parts and labour warranty gives 5 x £500 contributions to any breakdown work needing doing per year. So far I have had 2 x new shocks fitted on the Jag cost £465. Money saved already!

If you just want breakdown cover, going through quidco, it costs £82 with ££30 cashback =£52

Auto Aid - £39 a year for both me and the wife in any car.

It's a little different to the AA/RAC as in you pay for the cost of recovery and then claim the money back from them.

I haven't had to use them so can't comment on speed of repayment but all feedback on the web when I searched was very positive.

AA with £500 warranty. I claimed on it when I needed a rebuild and they paid out no problem.
