Does anyone have any information regarding running costs, usability and ownership? I know its rather vague, however I'm curently sitting on the fence as whether or not to buy a 23000 mile example.

Any opinions would help.

Cheers

I ran one for only a day back in 2008, and all I can say, is "buy one" "buy one" "buy one!!!

The running costs really won't matter, once you've been behind the wheel.

Great cars these Blacks. I've had mine since Nov '10 and its been as good as gold and yet I've driven it like I stole it for most of that time. Okay, yes it's a toy for when i have the time only but I have put around 8k on it now with mine showing 24k total and it hasn't missed a beat in all that time. Brake pads & discs were changed when required and was a fair spend but these had been driven extensively on track and euro hoons so I couldn't begrudge them. Fuel of course is what you'd expect of a 6.3L V8 however driven legally(ish), I see 25mpg on average, don't ask for on track consumption !!

I will add that these cars you either get, or you don't. I know four owners now and all eh sell, regret it later as they get into your soul. A friend of mine has a mint white car with 6k for sale a it happens for reasons financial. He'll regret it later too, but at least he knows that now !

Actually, it's 6208cc, if you want to split hairs.

Although my certificate actually says 6209cc.

I know. It's a common misconception that the 63s are 6.3L.

Yep, you're right.
You can forgive the un-initiated for thinking they are 6.3 V8's because they mostly just go by the badges. But it's alittle embarrassing when the owner of a 63 describes it has a 6.3
Lol

Never mind :-)

So why did MB badge them as 63s, not 62s?

Now there's a question.

I've heard a few theories but the one that seems to be shared more than most is that "63" is a reference to the original 63.
Doffing of the hat, so to speak.

But then that begs the question as to why they put a decimal point between the "6" and the "3" on the wing badges but not on the boot badge.

All very confusing stuff. Lol

I'm sure AMG would have a good answer for it.

I might put this question to them on the private lounge to get a definitive answer.

Is there another 6.2 unit to which they wish to differentiate?
