As per the title.

I know the trend is to fit bigger wheels & go low profile.

But I personally dont subscribe to this trend.

I also know the norm would be a 50 profile, which is what I have now.

But I'm interested if there is anyone out there running a bit more tyre wall on the rears?

Specifically is anyone running 225/55R16 ?

I know the speedo & gearing maths, but I would love to see what a 55 profile looks like before I commit.

I have a feeling they will fill the rear arches nicely and give a little more pneumatic compliance to the rear end ride?

I'd be gratefully for any snaps of Chims on 225's with a 55 profile.

Thanks, Dave.

• When your speedo reads 60mph you will actually be doing 57.9mph .

I would change the front profile to 60 to match it up ..

Thanks Daz, but I've used that site & it doesn't give me a feeling for how going up a few millimetres will look on the car.

I'd like to see a real 55 profile 225, on a real Chim.

If I do go for the 55 profile I can't see any reason to change my font tyres, which are new.

It's only a small change to the rear profile I'm looking at, to my eye my rear arches could benefit aesthetically from being filled a little more especially since I gave the car same more rake.

I just want to see what a Chim looks like with a 55 profile 225 (12mm more sidewall) filling the rear arch.

Anyone?

Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave,

I have emailed a couple to you rather than re-size. I thought this was the standard size!

I thought it... you said it hehe

All I'm proposing here is to go from 50 profile 225's, to 55 profile 225's.

Wheels are 16" Imolas front & rear, with 205/50R16 Uniroyal Rainsport 2's on the front.

Going for Rainsports on the rear to match the fronts, I can choose a 50 or 55 profile in 225's.

I just want to see what the one profile up will look like.

Anyone with a photo to help?

Cheers, Dave.

Perfect Graham, just what I was looking for.

To my eye, the 55 profile 225's on your car fill the arch better than my current 50 profile 225's.

Many thanks thumbup

Perhaps I should go 225/60 then?

Can't beat fat boots with plenty of sidewall, especially on the rear.

I hate bigger wheels & rubber band tyres, harsh crashy ride & the look of the Chav about them if you ask me hurl

Derek's rear rubber looks old school badass & ready for a burn out cool

That pic is full on the brakes at 120.

Looks like you are clutching at straws laugh I thought the objective was to match wall heights front and rear ..giving you the 1" difference.

It's always been on 225's and I've never had handling or traction issues like that.

Bigger section just means more rolling resistance.

If my baby 260 HP 4.0 litre doesn't need the extra grip, why would I fit a wider less fuel efficient tyre size?
