Sunday Service 28/04: Sliding Matters...

Show off your skills and win a fabulous prize at this weekend's Sunday Service

This weekend sees the next instalment of the world famous PistonHeads Sunday Service at Mercedes-Benz World on Sunday April 28.

Our hosts at MB World always lay on lots of exciting things for PHers to do and this meet is no exception. However, we have even more for you with the announcement of a PHer-only drift challenge!

When you arrive we'll hand you an entry form while we check your name off the list and all you need to do is complete it and hand it in if you fancy entering. Throughout the morning we'll invite 25 winning PHers (chosen at random from the boot of a 190E 1.8) to head over to the low friction driving area of the Mercedes-Benz handling circuit. Then all you have to do is impress the judges, and the 600-odd PHers watching you. No pressure. Oh and you'll be provided with a shiny Mercedes-Benz in which to undertake the challenge too.

The winner will recieve the title of PH Sunday Service Drift Champion (and as we are unlikely to be doing this again you'll be champion for life) and that's not all. The winner will also recieve a passenger ride in an AMG with Karl Wendlinger, an amazing prize by any standards.

We remind you that this competition is only open to PHers parking within the Sunday Service area with a guaranteed place within the 600 spaces available. As this event is already full we are sorry to say that we cannot allow any new entrants to take part in this, but we do urge anyone who is on the list for parking, but can no longer attend, to remove their name from the list as soon as possible by clicking here. Doing this will allocate the space to someone on the waiting list.

Don't forget to collect your entry form as you arrive.

Is a car provided or is this in your own car?

As I feel my Mk4 GTI will struggle unless they is a catastrophic understeer competition...

Why is it I see drifting on a wet surface as a good skill improving idea and the same on dry tarmac as being a Ned?

I think I must be a tyreophile.

I did the AMG day last December as part of our works 50th Anniversary. Very enjoyable day. We had fun in a C63 AMG on the skid pan and the small tracks. Lots of fun was had.

Love to go back for another day.

Sweet! This stuff PH should do more of. Doing it in a safe environment in front of spectators is a much better idea than having cowboys sneaking a bit of a smoke-up in the car park when the marshal's aren't looking! Top drawer Garlick.

Yep, we get your point.

What doesn't happen in the week is this comp, F1 drivers, special priced rides, the grand opening of the AMG floor, the first view of the A45 AMG or the chance to see 600 PHers cars over a bacon butty.

But if it's not for you, it's not for you...

Thanks to the BMW Car club I went to a skidpan day in Essex, some old BMWs and a few FWD Astras to drift round an old oily circuit which was great fun and from memory only about £45 for the morning. Great instructors as well. They said they were struggling for bookings at certain times so happy to plug them as it was a great morning with some knowledgeable instructors. PM me and I will happily pass on the details (sorry for the hijack!)

According to your article "...this event is already full we are sorry to say that we cannot allow any new entrants to take part in this."

All I was highlighting for those who may have been dissapointed is this facility is available all year round. Luckily it is on my door step so I can wander in whenever. But anyone can turn up for free, wander around the museum, look inside the AMG floor (which been there for ages) and generally have a good time. Rides in AMG models were £20 a pop last time I was there smile

Am I correct in thinking those of us on two wheels can just turn up if we feel like it because the chances of getting off the reserve list by car look pretty non existent ?

Just found the thread, would love to be there, despite being well into the 900's in terms of position can we still come down?!

I think this is mainly aimed at informing those already going. At a PH SS I went to last year, pretty sure the AMG rides were £10-15, depending on what car you chose.

It's a great FREE morning out smile
