Thank's to the Strategy Games thread I've just been rummaging though my old CD's to try and find Civilisation: Call to Power. Among my carefully stored away driver disks for hardware I binned 10 years ago, I've found some classics that probably won't run on Win7 or XP, for example

Gunship 2000 - Loved this, put together squadrons of Apache, Kiowa and Blackhawk for a range of missions.
Independence War - Space sim in a big battleship where you run various bridge stations. Absolute bh to fly as it used real physics, and unfortunatly the game was massively let down due by having way too many bugs.
Privateer 2 the Darkening - Space sim with Clive Owen as your characters voiceover and Danny Behr as the sexiest computer voice ever
Syndicate - Squad based missions made all the more amusing by the use of the "persuadertron"
Archemedian Dynasty - High speed sub combat
Tie Fighter - So much better than X-Wing

I guess I've thrown out anything like Wolfenstien, Doom, Quake, EF200 and the like which I'd have had on floppy disk (along with my 26 floppy set of MS Office)

So what PC gaming classics have you lot got hidden away?

Was playing C&C Generals earlier today, despite being a few years old now it's one of my favourite games. Also dig out Empire Earth II every now and then.

I've still got Baldurs Gate 2 kicking around, but it wasn't as good as the original IMO. I did get a bit bored of them after a while though as all you really needed to do was get a couple of heavily armoured fighters to slow the enemy down while everyone else clobbered them with slings/bows/spells from futher back. I never managed to get anywhere as a mage though.

What was the similar D&D style game where you could have a donkey in your group to carry all the loot?

Got and still occasionally playing:

Doom 1-3 and Final Doom
Settlers 2
X-Com Apocalypse
Civ 3 and 4
Alpha Centauri
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Gettysburg
Red Alert 2
X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Rebel Alliance (for some reason Tie Fighter gets stuck about half way through)
Cossacks - European Wars

That's what springs to mind at the moment.

Think that was dungeon siege, I never had it but played the demo

My favourite old school games are
jagged alliance 2(mentioned that in the other thread),
fallouts 1 and 2(very different to fallout 3 and new vegas, but brilliant in their own way)
baldurs gate 1 and 2
and of course elite
