Had a strange one yesterday with the chim. Discovered that there may be a fault with the immobiliser as getting no fuel through from the pump (could hear it was not functioning – car tried to start but no fuel going through).. checked pump / relays etc – individually all good. Temporarily ran a separate battery propped up in the boot to the fuel pump and managed to get it working and to the garage. However this made the car run better than ever !! – super smooth .. anyone any thoughts?

cheers

Completely plausible.

Worth checking the pump is getting good voltage and amperage.

Maybe be wrong but seem to remember the fuel pump supply has connectors behind the carpet panel on pass side where the door look solinoid is maybe a dirty connection, also the fuel pump relays have a habbit of failing it could be the relay contacts are burnt pitted causing a voltage drop. You can pop the metal can off the top to check the contacts if burnt try some fine grit paper then give it a try but best to replace longterm.
