Replace the dashboard before sale or not?
Discussion
Very sadly, the time has come to say goodbye to my pride and joy.
It still fills me with emotion just looking at it, but with a young family and a 50mile commute to work, it hasn't fitted our needs for some time.
I'd like some advice please, as the car is in immaculate condition, other than a couple of cracks in the walnut.
Would you replace the dash, so that the car is presented at its absolute best, or leave it, so that the future owner has the option of changing to carbon, alloy......?

For me it depends how bad/good the dash is. If it's only a few minor cracks then they might not even be noticed buy a potential buyer. If there are bits falling off the veneer then I might be thinking "if the owner is telling me the cars well looked after then why has he never fixed this". Let's see a photo so we can get a better idea!
I'm unsure. I'm of the 'make it mint to sell it' mindset, but I do find it hard to argue against the 'don't spend money you're not going to recoup' brigade.
Leave it. If anyone comments you've got it as a reason for them to haggle the price, rather than just haggling. And you've also got the option for a 'pay the asking and I'll fix it' response.
As others have said, it's unlikely to be a dealbreaker for anyone, just a haggling point.

Here is an image that shows the crack between the light switch and voltage meter, as well as the peeling on the heater panel:-

I'm pretty much convinced to leave it alone and see what happens once advertised.
If it does not sell, then I'll have the work done and enjoy it for another year
Thanks for your replies.
