OK... So I've just fitted a Sharkwerks Track exhaust to my 997 GT3 and there is no way I'm going to get anywhere close to doing a normal noise restricked track day in it (oh and it does sound epic smile). I understand some circuits run noisy / test days with higher or no limits. My questions are:

1. If anyone knows how to get on to such events / where they are advertised?
2. For the test events you have to have an ACU license. I have one from my bike racing days, would this also cover the requirement at track in a car?

Any pointers welcome!

You will need an ARDS licence to do test days.

Understood - thanks... So looks like noisy days are best if I can find one?

Such a shame that so many of these tracks have such strict noise restrictions. Good luck 'testing' the new exhaust anyway! biggrin

You will find that you may not be welcome in a road car on an MSA test day at most circuits.

If you're willing to travel you could make as much noise as you like at Knockhill

£459 to drive your own car around Donnington?

Absolute robbery.

It's not robbery. It's a noisy day which costs about a gazillion times more than a quiet day to hire, a circuit where you don't take many cars because it ruins it. A Donington noisy day is not a thing a TDO will make much money on but it is a day of incredible pleasure and, as such, worth doing a few times a year.

What an utterly ridiculous thing to say. It's basic economics - supply/demand. As far as I'm aware, Donington is now the only venue in England to offer fully unsilenced track time and they sell all of these noisy days every year without any problems.

Just because *you* place no value on something it doesn't make it robbery and I find it somewhat offensive of you to suggest otherwise.

Completely agree - if you dance with the 'noise devil' you have to pay the price! smile
Seems fair and square to me...

I've decided that I'd quite like to be a robber. I'd need a pair of American Tan tights to wear over my head, a mark 3 Cortina with a getaway driver and a sawn-off. My dialogue will include "claret all over the place", "you slag" and "he's had it away on his toes".

Anyone else in? (Jonny - you can't bring your bling car - we'll get caught)

I already work in a bank so have the old robbery side of things completely cover - dont even need to wear womens underware on my head to get away with it! smile

People even thank me on a daily basis!
