Project Press Car!
Discussion
Hi
Well its at home at last after a few weeks haggling the 3rd pre-production 350i which was used by the Factory as the second Press Car!
Its going to be a bit of a project car for the future!
It has not run for a few years as it was stored in a Barn (Thats two barn finds I know have

)
To start it's has half a tank of very stale fuel to get out, change the Fuel filter and plugs and she will be away, then we aim to just sort out a couple of minor jobs and bring her to the fest as she is!

With 44k on the clock it has not done a lot. Or as its an ex press car it may be on its way round the clock for a second time
The exhust is interesting!

Thats all there is off it, so I bet its a bit on the loud side!
Well I hopefully will find out on Friday when we hope to start on her!
I will of course keep you up to date!

That 'welding' on the exhaust is shocking, it's obviously been cobbled together from bits.
IanI think its been repaired a few times due to it postion on the car!
I will know more when we can get it up on a jack and stands at least!
Its going to be very interesting comparing it with num1 as they were the 3rd and 4th 350is made!
I like the way the wiring is on the air hose from the AFM to plenum.
It also has the original metal airfilter in the nose of the car like I found num 1 should have been!

Hi John
When you get closer every section of the car is scratched/chipped etc!
It certainly will star!
Its like this all over, so will need a respray if its to look like it did when its was first used as a press car, but mind you they probably put most of them on it!

But that is in the future!

Hi Andy , not content with having multiple garages with cars in them , I see You are now parking a car outside each one....You'll have to ask the council to build more.

Cheers
Geoff.
Hi Geoff
No the council will only want to charge me more

So I am building a new workshop garage were I can store two cars and strip another one
So the temp outside storage will go!
Or will it

Andy
HI Geoff
Some of my cars (The ones the wife doesn't know about) are also in Gt Staughton! e-mail the details and Simon and myself will give you a visit some time.
We are all out sorting a few problems ready for our first big show of the year next Bank holiday weekend at Rushden in Northants.
The plan is 12 cars and display engines etc!

Son #2 and I went to an estate sale last night. Nice modest house on a bit of semi-rural land soon to be torn down for more housing developments. But the shop was a newish 40x60 metal building with a large lift. Told my son, if we win the lottery, this is what bad old dad needs. (But them Mom would banish me to a semi-rural space too.)
Apparently the PO was an oil field engineer and fixed up old cars, new Corvettes and farm stuff, signs of a 70 GT-6 and a TR-3. Had a HUGE twin pump compressor and 5'x3'(?) sandblasting box. Lots of fine (older) machine shop tool bits and attachments as well as tools, power tools and bits from the 50, 60 & 70s. Prices were silly though. I bought some souvenirs but nothing useful. Grady

Hi Danny
Not yet we have been sorting a couple of other things more important on other cars!
It's some thing silly, the favorites are the AFM, Throtle pot, Resistor pack or ECU.
The injectors are not getting the signal to fire, it only runs on the cold start injector!
It's the next thing on the list after my Tuscan which had a fit at Rushden and back fired and blew the exhusts apart!
We know what caused that so we are fitting new coil packs. Then new leads and plugs to be on the safe side.
Then it's on to the press car!
