Tools for cycle purposes

I'm looking for a range of cycle tools that are value for money but not really low quality.

Can anyone recommend a brand?

I think they're called IceToolz; good kit for a good price.

What do you need in particular?

Essentials are;

Chain splitter
Chain whip
Hex keys/wrenches
Spanners
Pliers
Grease
Cleaning kit

Nice to haves are;
BB tool
Chain cleaning device
Brake bleed kit

I didn't rate my GFs Icetoolz that I bought her.
What maintenance do you see yourself doing and what bike do you have? Square taper/HT2, rim/disk brakes, cartridge/adjustable bearings etc?
Bike kit is often overpriced and inferior quality IMO. For Allen keys and torqs look at something like a bondhaus folding set, then buy the specific cycle tools you need for your bike.

My Halfords Professional spanner/everything set does almost every bike task and was only £100.

Don't bother with any "kit": they'll contain some/many tools you'll never need, hence money wasted. Just buy what you need, when you need it. Only a few tools are "bike specific": chain tool, BB tool, freewheel tool, cable cutters, spoke keys, chain whip. Everything else will be hex/Allen keys and screws (2, 2.5, 4, 5mm most commonly), which you probably already have!

That Halford kit has most of those and other bike specific tools for £35. I doubt you could buy them separately for that. They'll not be the best quality ever, but for most home use it'll probably suffice.

I've got this one (It was half price so £200 down to £100 at the time) - best garage purchase EVER for the bike and the car. And the boat. And the garden machinery!

If you can find this set, it's what I have, and I can certainly recommend. I bought it from Amazon last year for about £75 I seem to remember, which was about half price. Amazon don't currently stock them, so I wonder whether it was discontinued...

I don't mean to piss on your gift but the manager in my local Halfords (a cyclist) put me off buying that. He said it was made of butter.

I got the Icetoolz kit and it's probably saved me what it cost me on small jobs that I'd need professional help with. The tools are solid but not particularly well finished. It's not that comprehensive though, eg, I now need something to take a 1 1/8 threaded headset apart and it's missing the large spanners that I need for that.

Of course I wouldn't expect it to have absolutely everything but it seems to have several tools for removing things like modern BBs that in reality will probably not get used yet misses out some of the key things for older bikes that would be needed more often.

In hindsight I'd have taken that jobsoworth one instead.
