Hi All,

Further to my last post on eaking a few more bhp out of my 3.5 engine is a twin turbo 3.5 V8 in any way likely to work. Apologies if this is a really stupid question but in my pea sized brain it looks exciting smile

Thanks all and sorry if I am getting tedious with the questions. Only way to learn I guess

Cheers Danny, just could not bring myself to have the wonderful bonnet lines interrupted by a big blower !! wink

Not sure about the turbos fitting, only got as far as thinking that the height may be alright as no higher in engine bay than single plenum as standard ?!?

I don't think turbos would suit a wedge due to the torque suddenly coming online at 4000 rpm or whatever. Supercharger deffo the way to go.

There is a remote turbo that goes about mid-point of the exhaust but with turbo there is lag. High temperatures and cost more to keep the car running optimum..The s102 sprintex supercharger was used for the SX wedge versions and they fit snugly under the bonnet with no bonnet mod..You would need a bigger plenum opening and possibly a rising fuel reg but there is no lag with a blower and the BHP you get from even low boost outways the cost..Sprintex made a 5th generation twin screw blower that is identical to the early types as these were more efficient and performed better than any other..Rotex superchargers are a modern small centrifugal type and can deliver a good boost but i believe more work is needed to fit/fabricate pipe work..The sprintex on a V8 wedge sits on the N/S of the engine..The bracket will be a fair bit but im sure someone on here could point you in the right direction....Ziga

Yes, twin turbo V8 is possible.
Yes, twin turbo V8 is possible to build such way that the turbos wake up on pretty low revs (2000rpm or under) and are won't be outscaled at somewhere around 300bhp.
Possibly, I think 2 turbos are possible to squeeze in to the engine department of 350i.
No, even if it's possible, you don't want to start such project with the original Lucas fuel injection.
No, it's not cheap.
No, it's not easy either.

Bottom line: if you need to ask (yes, I know this is a cliché, but it's a pretty good one), finding a wedge with bigger engine will probably be both easier and cheaper than to buy the knowledge and the working hours to twin-turbo a 350i. And that way it's guaranteed that you won't break the factory lines tongue out nor burn the car with a red-glowing exhaust chamber leaning on the fiberglass body.

Just done a 5 Litre Griff transplant on my 350i performance improvement is dramatic to say the least, there is no substitute for more capacity in my book!

Boosted has done a bit looking at this option. IIRC his thoughts were along the lines of a low pressure turbo and perhaps 250bhp. Drop him a line.

Underbonnet temperatures are always an issue with TVR's, just think about cooling if going the Turbo route.
