That's because you can only buy Nespresso capsules from Nespresso, whether you order from them or go into Harrods or Selfridges where its Nespresso themselves in store. Anyone else that is selling the actual Nespresso capsules would have to buy them at the same price as everyone else, they have never sold them at a trade price in the UK. We as a Nespresso stockist (machines) get so many capsules each month in order to demonstrate the machine in the shop but the amount we get was cut down some time ago as some shops were selling their allocation but probably at the normal Nespresso price.Oddly, nobody on Amazon undercuts nespresso? Are you sure they were the new Dualit NX capsules for the Nespresso and not the Dualit Caffitaly or ESE pods? because I'd be surprised if Costco could afford to sell them below cost price. The actual recommended price from Dualit is £34.80 for a case of 12 boxes of 10 equating to £2.90 for a retail pack of 10...I've just looked on John Lewis's website and I think they have worked their pricing out wrong somewhere as they are charging £3.45 per pack of 10, although they may have added VAT when they are VAT exempt.We deal direct with Dualit so will try the capsules and if they are ok we'll be selling them in our shops as we are always getting people coming into the shop thinking they can buy the Nespresso capsules from us because we have them displayed in a Nespresso box next to the demo machine. I probably won't put them on our website as there will be loads of online sellers.
You've been able to get 'non genuine' capsules in France for a while, I buy them in our local Super U if I forget to take enough over with me. They're about the same price as the proper ones though, and certainly don't taste any better so the sole reason to buy them is convenience.
I guess the issue for Nestle is that the machines are subsidised by the capsule sales as it's a captive market, if the capsules become generic it damages the commercial model. I have noticed other brands of caps in Wait rose recently, but again they cost more than the 'real' ones.

I'm sorry, we are a cookshop and only sell the machines. Which machine is it that you have? We have a Siemens TK50 in our Broadway shop which was a demo model from about 7 - 8 years ago and is still going strong. I've got a Siemens bean to cup machine and have ordered loads of bits for it, in fact you could build an entire machine if you wanted.
