Ok so I've had my current car for 3 years and am becoming bored with it. I've narrowed my search to a fast estate and so far I am contemplating a volvo 850 or v70 (r/t5 models) possibly a 9-5 HOT. So my question is - what else is there that I am I overlooking?

Always liked the look of the 159 Ti but I've no idea what they're like to drive/own I'm afraid:

Forget to mention - budget 3k ish and has to be reasonably uncommon (no octavia estates).

Sorry I'm typing from my phone at work so kept initial post brief. I'm just over 2m tall so the focus will be slightly small. Needs to be comfy driving to french alps in winter and have luggage space for 3/4.

BMWs don't appeal? 330/530?

Can the Mondeo ST220 be had in OP's budget these days?

Mondeo is a very good point, can see a few on the bay within my price range. Bit popular though, anything a bit less common place? What sort of MPG would the V6 offer? 20-30?

BMW is not really my cup of tea unless it's fairly old 5 or 7 series.

Just messaged the seller regarding the slightly short MOT, seeing if it could have a years put on it.

Just to say I spoke to the guy myself and he sounded like an extremeble decent sort with a genuine knowledge and passion for the car. Cambelt, Disks and pads all round. He was undersealing the car when I spoke to him.

Sounded like he had a lot of cars including an audi quatro and some rally cars so my gut is it will be well maintained. That said I looked long and hard and decided to keep my trusty W210 E55 AMG.

If I didn't already have something myself and was looking for something sensible but fun and different I would likely have bought it at the weekend.

I have no affiliation to the car or seller FYI. Just a sickness of buying cars or even just going through the process of researching the car. As I say it's a sickness and why I lurk so much on pistonheads.
