Tying to be rational here...

Now I know in the big scheme of things this is bu99er all; you know, kids dying, hit & runs, GW Bush, etc etc., but last Thursday I took my son to the nearest Wacky Warehouse. Last night I'm out buffing my hood and I notice the two driver's side valve caps have 'gone'. They were Tiv ones I'd ordered when I got me motor.
Now they only cost a tenner or something but I'm sure you'll all agree --- that's not the point.
I parked under the CCTV, close to the entrance, but one side of the car was out of view.
Some little scrote has thought "oh, hang on, nice looking car, well different, what can I possibly steal from it? What isn't nailed or glued down? I know I'll take something that has possibly no market value whatsoever but will piss the owner off no end".
It isn't worth as much as the silver 5 series omnipresent Beemer or the silver SLK omnipresent Merc parked nearby but it's my new motor.

Anyhow, I won't be going back in it. And if I ever see anyone doing it to a fellow nice car owner I'll gladly stand up in court and explain that people shouldn't take what isn't their's and that the youth sustained those cheekbone injuries whilst I was attempting to prize the articles out of his hands.
I'm
serious too.

I'm
serious too.Always happening, but....last time a young lad was caught in hotel carpark by the manager(a friend)and so we called his parents out from the wedding reception they were attending to chastise the 10 year old culprit. The mum told me to
off so I had to punch the dad. Made me feel good.

Can you get 'lockable' ones, or did I dream it?
Can get them with a tiny grub screw in the side to "lock" them. I've decided against these as it might just lead to shagged valves when chav-kid tries to wrench them off...
I generally pop in to a local tyre fitters and they're usually happy to give you a handful of black plastic valve caps for nowt. Keeps the crud out of the valve and (if you're bothered) a little bit of silver paint hides them against the wheels.
Must admit we have never bothered with the fancy valve caps as several members have lost them at shows etc. Some of the TVRs parked at the Moat House, Cardiff at the Power & Passion weekend lost their valve caps.
My mate Valhalla puts his on nice and tight - uses a wrench - but you must be careful not to apply too much strength. They then get a liberal coating of vaseline - but you have to remember to have some tissues in your car if you do have a flat. Most of the little scroates who nick valve caps will not have a hanky being the 'use the sleeve' or hack and spit sort.

Big M,
Like the vaseline idea but to pi55 them off may mean they then decide to do something other than just nick the valve caps - key it or similar!!
The youth of today - I blame the parents. There are loads of scroats by us who swear at you - and they are about 6 or 7 - who knows who and where the parents are. They even stay up later than us!!!!!!!!!!

Mine got nicked on my last car, so just gave up putting nice ones on and went with black plastic. Even then the little b*gg*rs nicked them.
There must be some little scrot who has thousands of them. Or maybe there is a black market in them.
I think a suitable punishment would be to drive over their theiving little hands. (or I do quite like the idea of Punching a parent ;D )

how about soldering bits of razorblades round them ? as long as you put a wee note on the window saying 'don't touch the valve caps.. they have razorblades on em' arn't you covered by law (like crushed glass on top of walls).
I mean it's not like any of the little neds can read so you'll get em.
then you can follow the trail of blood back to their chav parents hovel and slash the tyres on their capri or whatever.. see how they like it.
