This morning I was casually surfing the internet, browsing cars as per usual. Then I noticed a lovely looking XJR X300 for sale. It was unusual as it had low miles, full history, plus a decent colour combo. So... I was driving home in my newly purchased XJR and phoned the other half: "Hi, I bought a Jaguar". She was a little suprised laugh

Tomorrow morning I am taking it to a Jaguar specialist and will ask them to make it nice and mint. My to do list so far is:

1. Try and make supercharger belt more quiet.
2. Respray front and rear bumpers to make them perfect.
3. Have a small mark in the leather repaired.
4. Replace or repair small mark on one rear light.
5. Have the whole car professionally detailed inside and out.

Anything else to look for / get checked / replace?

Maybe suspension rubbers? Ideas welcome...

Rear shock mounts fall apart creating a knocking over bumps. Radiator lower mounts go. Look out for the exhaust front slip joint. They work loose...

Other than that, fantastic car to own.

Congratulations! smile

When the specialist removes the front and rear bumpers get them to check the mounts underneath. I was told that they can corrode which in extreme cases can lead to the bumper falling off (happened to me).

The suspension should get a thorough examination.

IME these cars are sensitive to tyre quality and tracking/alignment. Getting that sorted out can make a massive difference.

Out of interest which specialist are you using?

Hi guys,

The car will be collected by Alan Collins early this week. He has worked on Jaguars owned by the family for decades. He works out of a shabby industrial estate, but the cars hidden inside are often amazing works of art. So the money is spent on talent rather than posh premises.

Anyway I asked him to check it over mechanically, respray it, polish the alloys, improve some cosmetics here and there. Generally do whatever needs doing.

Hopefully I'll post some pics in a couple of weeks smile

Same Alan Collins that used to have a Jaguar Buisness tucked away round the back of an industrial estate in Maldon Essex?

The supercharger is supposed to whine. I would be disappointed if it didn't.
