Is there anywhere on a standard RV8 (i.e. without an oil cooler) to fit an oil temperature sender?

Yes, and easily done with some juggling (on a Serp at least) - more detail in the thread above but if the adaptor in the bottom of the cover (where the pressure gauge sender fits) is replaced with an LMA (or similar) M20x1.5 to 1/8NPT adaptor, then the gauge sender can go in that and the adaptor from the bottom can go in the port on the side right above the filter seat in place of the plain bung that lives there... alternatively, just drill and tap the side bung - most temp senders are 1/8NPT. An aftermarket adaptor is unlikely to seat properly on the side port due to the casting shape but will go in the bottom hence the swap.

What about a tee piece at the oil pressure switch, (side of serp below alternator)?

It needs to be directly in the flow of oil though (I think) - otherwise you end up with the same thing as with the standard coolant sensor ... It sits in a backwater (or worse - an airlock) and doesn't get to actually relay the temperature correctly...

I drilled and tapped the sump plug, but wouldn't recommend. By the time the sender is bolted in and a spade connector fitted it is protruding far enough to get ripped out regularly. I will be relocating mine.

For the most accurate real-time reading it needs to be in oil flow like Pupp suggests wink
