I am considering moving surgeries. The reason being, I seem to get a different locum every time I visit which is not very often, but I do have regular blood tests and visits seem to be in little groups. In short there is no continuity.

I have completed a form to transfer to another smaller surgery which I suspect will mean I get to see the same Doc every time I go.

Are there any downsides to this?

Is there any chance of me being rejected by the new surgery after they have requested my medical records and if that were to happen, can the original surgery kick me out?

I know it sounds a bit paranoid but, since the knob Blair, anything is possible.

I've just moved for broadly similar reasons. They can't refuse you without some relatively major offense being committed (eg seriously abusive to staff etc), if they're accepting patients and you're within catchment then that's that as far as I understand it.

If you're on regular medication, you MUST make sure you have a full month's worth of everything left before you put the paperwork in, as you'll find yourself in a bit of a medicinal no-man's-land for a good while during the handover. Your new surgery would still do emergency stuff but they won't have your info for the first little while and won't be at all happy about doing routine repeat prescriptions before they've got your full notes.

The only problem you will have is if Shipman is your new Doc
