Hi,

I need to get a new rear number plate (back lit) and have gone to Fancy Plates as they advertise a backlit plate.

Now I know in the scheme of what I'm paying for the engine repairs on my car, £34.50 for a plate is nothing but it does seem a bit pricy to me when standard plates are only about a tenner.

Anybody know anyone else that sells them a bit cheaper.

Thanks,

Hi
I only Know of 2 Places that do the translucent plates and unfortunately they can charge a premium for them. Craigs plates and Fancy plates. I have had to buy 2 sets in 3 months and tried to find cheaper.
Sorry ive not been much help

So £30 assuming p&p included - not much difference.

This lot do a pair for £26, one translucent for £20. Translucent is an option in the rear size menu.

I have a back lit number plate and was told on one MOT that it was illegal (honeycomb type, speed cameras have trouble reading it) now my understanding was that it was not retrospective. If the car was built with it you do not need to change it.I still have it fitted illegal not????

The reason i had to buy 2 sets was the when I bought the car the previous owner kept his private plate, so one set to go back to the original, then we got our own plate so another set was needed.
Regarding legality, our plate lamps are hidden so the translucent plate is the only one we can use else "nick nick" for not having it illuminated. smile

When I originally got mine it had a normal rear plate even though it should have been translucent ... Got through MOT's no problem.

I on.nly replaced it with a translucent plate when it fell off on the A31 one day... smile

When you do get a plate, there is a useful mod you can do to make the back lighting look uniform (and sweet)....

linky....
