That's not far Gog! I had mine trailered from Leicester to Edinburgh, £300! It would only be a couple of hundred to yours wouldn't it?

I've watched that motor each time it has come up, can't understand the folk not bothering to buy it after bidding!

240ish.
I have been talking to pk500 about buying that silver wedge he has bought by accident, it is only 180 miles away from me lol.

I dont understand why people win an auction and then not buy it.

What's the deal with the bonnet on this one? It's definitely not standard as far as I can see but it seems to fit well and looks good on the car. Is this a one off/home made perhaps???

The misfire puts me off as it could be something a lot more serious than the distributor.

Hi

Ref the bonnet its a standard 350iS1 bonnet which were fitted sometimes on the 280i.
Ref the mis-fire, he claims it a faulty distributor, which could be a simple faulty cap, or it could even be a fuel issue etc. That engine is fairly built proof so I would not worry about that! If its cheap enough you can buy it and spend very little and get a nice car!

Been lurking in this corner of the forums for a while and this seems like a good opportunity to say hi!

Would you guys say this is a cheap way in to having a wedge?

I quite fancy a project and I was thinking about getting a wedge later on in the year, albeit the 350i.

Hi and welcome lurking monkeykingZX..I'd say it depends on your budget and how much time you want to spend on a project..But with the white 280i it might be worth a look as the mis-fire might be an easy fix but could also be a head banger..But we are here to help even with so called silly questions..It could be as easy as sorting a minor electrical issue or it could be a cylinder down due to a worn cam..Valve sticking..or a blocked injector..My only advice is if you want a V8 then get one to start with..However 280's are also fun and i love mine that much that i cant part with her even for a V8..(Not yet anyway..SSsshhhh)...Ziga

Thanks for the welcome!

I wouldn't say I was desperately after a v8, my budget for this is different for what my budget for a 350i would be as I wasn't planning on purchasing until september!

I've got space to store it and the income to get it up and running again, along with some project buddies in the form of my dad and brother.

In it's current condition how much would this car be worth as (once I've cleared it with the wife) I'd quite like to bid on this, but I can't say I know about how much a "project" wedge should be had for.

Hi

In its present condition around £1K to £1500 up and running and in a good condition with an MOT, £2.5K if you are lucky they should be worth more but thats what the market is saying at present!

Thanks for the info Andy!

Those numbers are quite pleasingly low, I think I'm gonna have to have a serious think about this one biggrin

Good luck, A wedge is a wedge. These cars get under your skin. I am onto my fourth and no doubt the fifth will end up in the stable should the right one come up.
