Any help please! Driving around today and heard banging noise under the bonnet and felt it eveywhere. The belt is now half the width off a new one. The belt was replaced less than 2000K ago. I've had a look at other posts and one says cut it off before it does some damage???? Does anyone know of the cost to replace as I've got another 400 mile round trip to do next week up to Staffordshire. Also is this a DIY job or silly money. HELP

Cheers all

Had mine replaced in the last service and didn't notice a huge bill.
I can have a check tonight on the cost of the belt and how long it took to fit if you like?

Hi there,

I got the belt from Joolz, and replaced it myself (though admittedly he then tensioned it properly at the next service). If I can do it, believe me, you can.

tricky bits:
1) work out how to remove the lower bonnet thing on top of washer botle without ripping its edges to shreds
2) loosening bottom allen bolt on belt pulley without skinning knuckles
3) deciding how much tension is "enough"

Otherwise definitely no probs.

It is easy enough to do as sean has said.

You are lucky it didn't cut through a fuel pipe.

Rip it off and throw the air con away!
And re-plumb the fueling, save some weight in the process...

Yes, you can do without the a/c drive belt without any problems.
