Staying with my old mam this weekend, in Shoreham by Sea. Like to take him for a pint in a nice quiet country real ale pub.. anyone know of anything suitable? Got my.VW here so a few miles away is fine. Ta.

About 10mins drive inland is the Fountain Inn, in Ashurst. Very much the quiet country pub, good food too. About 2mins inland from that is the brewery tap for the Darkstar Brewery, the Partridge (in Partridge Green, funnily enough). If you go there, it's worth walking down to the brewery and shop.

In Shoreham itself, The Red Lion offers a good choice of local beers, and Darkstar have a pub just past the High Street called the Duke of Wellington, really good choice of beers in there from various locations.
