DIY cambelt and pump on V6?
Discussion
Have 2002 156 2.5 V6 which has done 60,000 miles.
Last had belt and pump at 30,000 miles in 2008, so probably time to do it again? Or do I risk leaving it another year?
Car in lovely condition, but only worth about 50p, so struggling to justify spending £500 on it.
Is is realistic to do this job myself?
I recently did the belt/pump/variator on a Twinspark, which was pretty straightforward, but conscious that the V6 is rather more complicated.
Anyone done a V6 belt change themself, or is this really a job for a specialist?

When I had mine done they said it was an 8 hour job, just for your info. Not so much specialist as requiring specialist tools. You'll need cam loks to ensure you get the timing right. I believe these can be hired in the UK or you can buy them through some good parts suppliers. Have a look at the alfaowner.com forum, there's a lot of good info there.
