I love my car, and I love the noise it makes. The problem is, I am commuting through some small villages at 7:30am. I think I must wake about 20 people up every morning.

I was told the car had a sleeved exhaust, does this make it louder? My car pops, bangs and spits constantly. And if it does, can it be toned down a bit? Not sure I'd go for a new system but if there is a mod that tones it down a bit I'd probably look at it.

I could go in a different car, but I step outside every morning, take one look at it and can't help it. Would running it on 95 do anything?

Sleeving will make it louder, and aside from cutting the box back open and welding back in some perforated tubes and packing with wadding there's not much to do apart from replacing it .....you fit some track day db killers to the tailpipes that would tone thing's down a bit.

A ) if you are up and going to work, it's time the lazy work shy bds were up too
B) yes, a sleeved exhaust does make it noisier. It may well be decatted too (or decanted if you have an ipad). That will make it even noisier.
C) Phazed will be along in a while to tell where to get bolt on cans to calm things down
D) if you like a noisy early morning drive, come on Thunder in the Tunnels 9 on May 12th, early doors, and make a lot of noise in the tunnels of London

Tastes and opinions are all different but mines sleeved and I don't think it's that loud. As mentioned you could have CATs removed! Go to a local meet and go out in a standard one and see if you want it quieter. Sod the lazy bds.

Cheers. Sounds possible. Part of me thinks fk 'em but it annoys me when somebody whistles past here in a Subaru, so I have some sympathy.

I need to read the thunder in the tunnels thread, sounds good.

When I started typing, there were no other posts. Three minutes later I found I was the fourth post, also suggesting added cans.
Only joking re the double posting! My accountant brain just noticed the similarity in our post scores.....

Think its my pad that's responsible for the double posting, though its only ever a issue on PH for some reason, and it even does it several mins after the first one .....no real reason for this post other than keeping ahead biggrin

Hmm, I have to leave for work at 5:30am. I'd call 7:30am a respectable time of day for traffic noise.

I know what you mean, it's the two retirement homes that make me feel bad. Hopefully they're all deaf.
