Are you in the AA/RAC? They often have ways in. If the centre console isn't locked, them all they need to do is get you in the car to release the boot from the console release.

Yeah I think the AA are on their way now, they were being a bit difficult. Was just hoping to speed things up and avoid having to use them.

I wouldn't want anyone to say how to get into a car on an open forum, but I noticed on other threads like this that people offered to PM a method.

What do you mean by the centre console being locked?

Did you get in eventually? The centre arm rest opens up and has a boot release in it. You can lock it with the ignition key, so if its unlocked you can open boot from inside car.

I know TVRs have a way, but don't think the MX-5 has a similar one. The only way is if the doors are open then you can use the release lever for the boot. Otherwise it's squeezing something between the window and seal to catch the lock to open it. I know these cars aren't the most secure, but after seeing just how quick it was (less than a minute) then it's certainly not worth leaving anything valuable in it!
