Gearbox issues Vantage S sportshift...
Discussion
I'm really enjoying my Vantage S roadster, but still having issues with the gearbox
. The car is a year old and has covered 6k miles. Most of the time the gearbox is fine but when driving slowly there is occasional driveline shunt which can be pretty bad. It feels as though the clutch doesn't take up and then jerks badly as the clutch engages. I tried a clutch learn to no avail and the Aston garage I bought it from took it back (200 mile round trip - I drove it one way, them the other) declaring it to be ok. Something isn't right but not keen to drive it all the way back to London. Any ideas? I tend to drive in sport the whole time and not sure if this may be to blame? I will try driving in standard mode and see if it still happens... In the meantime any suggestions welcome...

I haven't tried sport and D but in sport with paddles I do have the nasty driveline shunt when driving slowly. Doesn't happen every time, but probably 30% of it! Its a bugger that the dealer are so far away and that they don't offer a trailered collection service so even if they send someone to pick up the car it adds over 200 miles to it each time...
Something is really not right.
OK they are not as smooth as a double clutched but not as bad as you dicscribe.
I had a problem on my S where it would sometimes "slur" an up shift. My dealer (Aston Martin St Gallen) were really good and worked with AM and in AM wrote a new gearbox map for my car and it's really good since.
Since then I understand there has been an number new software releases for the gearbox (and the rest of the car) so make sure you have the latest ones across the board.
On the clutch learn side, the AMS II is not the same as the older AMS I's. all you do on the S is start the car and wait until the N button light stops flashing. Now my does this at every starts though the standard map I think only does it when cold.
Tell the dealer to sort it or you want a new clutch under warranty, that should focus their attention
