I can’t believe it has happened, but yes I am that latest car owner to suffer vandalism.

I return to my car on Tuesday to find that some little Sh@t had not only put a scratch down my passenger side wing, but an even worse one down my drivers door through to my back lights.

I just couldn't believe it, I am so sad. I should imagine that I am no different to any other TVR owner, being that my cerbera is my baby, one that I take great pride in keeping in pristine condition. I think that's what make it worse.

No, what makes it worse is that even though I have been driving for 10yrs without an single claim, protected 60% no claims, I will still be penalised if I claim...subsequently increasing my premium next year. All this just so some little sh@t thought it would be funny to ruin something that he/she could probably never even imagine owning!

I know the feeling. Its one of the risks in owning a car regardless of the marque. A couple of years ago I woke up to find our front door open and our A Class gone. The theives broke in whilst we were asleep, came in through the garden picked up our keys and walked out the fron door nicking my watch and a camera too.

The car was found a month later in a container bound for Jamaica. I bought a new car soon after and whilst it was parked outside my work place someone took a key down its rear flank. Alas we are the victims of a sad and pathetic side of our culture that's lets people get away with it when caught.

Don't worry about the money, just remember the pleasure of owning a TVR is in the driving which is something no amount of vandalism can take away right?

Bad luck mate. My sincere sympathies.
I can honestly say that in my experience these kind of attacks on TVRs are rare by comparison to other marques. Most people seem to consider TVRs to have some sort of "Common man Street Cred".
But I do know how you feel,it's no easier for you to be one of the few who are victimised.
Good luck with the repairs. Your Silver Cerbie WILL be back!
Cheers

PS, After the shit day I've had (see my post - Not sure what to do) just let me know if you find out who did it. Right now I could comfortably rip their heads off for you.

Sorry to hear your bad news, some bugg$r put some scratches down my last car in Bishop's Stortford. I noticed that you featured on the post about the Harlow meet, could you please tell us where this dispicable act occured so that we might avoid it?

Hey Scott

Sorry to hear the crap news. Sometimes I wonder if its even worth owning a sportscar. The worry of parking it somewhere where it might be vandalised, stolen, etc.
Surely there must be an answer to this problem that no-one has thought of yet.....

Can you imagine if there was a security system that protects your car from everything?! I would certainly pay the asking price if there WAS one.

Hope the repairs don't prove TOO costly mate. See you at next meet.

Scott,

Sorry to hear this, I've had a car keyed and I know how you must feel.

What sickens me is the pond life that do this proberly think "He's got lot's of money, he can afford to repair this" not a thought for the fact a lot of us are not rolling in money and have worked very hard to get the cars we have - No matter how valuable or not they may be.

I think John Travolta summed it up in Pulp Fiction when he had his car keyed, "If that d*ckless piece of sh*t had only let me catch him do it"

I hope you get the damage repaired soon.

Dave.

Its disgusting what some people will do for the sake of jealousy or a strange sense of anger at people owning nice things!
I had my car kicked and jumped on. Every panel was dented and keyed. Not my TVR but any way still smarted. I felt like crying then rage took over and I would have willingly killed the sh-t who did it.
My solution would be to bring back the town centre public humiliation that birching gave. Ive bought the mask already but thats another story!
Couldnt you just imagine the satisfaction that a good birching would give to the crowd? Its deterent factor would be great.

I can totally empathise.

Earlier this week some absolute ct scuffed the front wing of my Griff whilst it was parked. No note left of course, just a huge red streak. I could have cried. I've only had the car 6 weeks, and I understand it will need a respray costing £800. I don't have that kind of cash lying around!

If I find out who did it, I will be dishing out some street justice...

I've noticed that too. TVR's are definitely more "Street cred" than "look how rich I am" - people around town seem to be open with a TVR owner and a bit freer with the "nice car" remarks or a quick wander over for a look.

Shit news indeed. I'm really sorry you've had your car spoilt. I have a couple of pics of it from the last Harlow meet. I was going to email you to see if you wanted to show your car at the Uxbridge Car Show too. I guess that might be out of the question now.

I can point you towards a good GRP paint specialist if you need one. Resprayed mine and the result are top notch.

Hi guys...

If anyone does know of a good, cheap GRP sprayer, i left my car to have a valet, something i do myself now, got it back, and ended up travelling away with work, got the car out of the garage, 1 massive crack at the front and the paint all scratched, well spoke to the valeters, sorry mate you should have checked it when you picked it up,so i now drive round waiting for someone to hit me at the front??

I have a "Swordfish" Tuscan that recently had a front end respray. Cost the best part of £3k! Last week some T**T keyed the passenger door........ Bought one of those blue lipstick thingies from Halsfords which amazingly has reduced the scratch significantly. Need to save up for another paint job!!!

IanF, sounds like a job for "cosmetic insurance" - £75 a year allows 2 paint repairs per year. Can't remember where it's from, but hatchn, I think, knows something about it.

Hi Everyone.

Thank you all so much for your replies, belive it or not it make me feel alittle better, that so many of you took the time to reply.

It's amazing how many nasty people there are with such jealousy in their crap little lives.

No CCTV unfortunatley, probably wouldn't be working if there was!!

The paint insurance sounds interesting...........details if anyone has them!

Well see you all soon, perhaps once my brother and myself get round to organising next Harlow Meet....although not till respray has been done.

I will post some pics once she is done.

Scott

Tom Horsburgh did the respray. He is near Guildford. Virtually all he does is GRP and he is very good at it. But busy too.

Its the Uxbridge Car show. Matt Dutton is organising it. He has posted in the Gen Gassing area for cars so look there for details.

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=12840&f=13&h=0

Tom's details can be found at Adrian Blyth's website www.adrianblyth.co.uk (there's a link on the home page for pistonheads too). If you don't know Adrian he's an independent selling TVRs, also near Guildford. At the bottom of his website he lists a whole bunch of useful TVR contacts. The job Tom did on my Griff was just unbelievable, given that it looked like it had been shot at with a 20 bore full of lead shot beforehand.

Best wishes

Sounds promising...
Can someone post more details on this?
