Clutch fitment! Anywhere local?

Having picked up my Griff yesterday, it would appear that the clutch is slipping! A couple of questions.



Is it much of a job? (I'm not scared of a spanner)

Who's clutch is it? (I'm sure TVR would use a bought in component)

Go main dealer or would a decent Indie surfice? (If I don't do the job)

Who do you recommend?

How many ££££££'s?



Slipping clutch within 100 miles! Would you believe it Talk about the start of a love/hate relationship! I'm trying to stay positive.

Not too much of a job Paul...

Bit time consuming though and you need to get the car high enough off the ground to get the gearbox out. If it's a T5 box then leave the bellhousing on the engine and remove it separately to change the clutch.

Got my new clutch from V8 Developments as TVR item was too expensive and out of stock anyway.

Hope this helps but if you want any advice from an amateur who has just done the job - ask away!

Be aware that neither the Rover gearbox nor the T5 is particularly lightweight, and the Rover box escpecially can be a bit of a beast to manhandle as it can't easily be separated from the bellhousing in-situ.

Personally, I wouldn't try this job without access to a lift/pit, a gearbox support and/or an extra pair of strong hands.

I managed to get the car booked in at short notice to Racing Green. If I drop it off over the weekend, Steve thinks he can get it done next week

Maybe the joy of Griff ownership is only delayed slightly and not cancelled (I am yet to see the bill though )
