Hello all - has anyone else had problems with their heater?

So ok I admit it was never anything to write home about however with cold and damp early mornings itis sort of required - the old rag to the screen just doesnt seem right

Anyhow is probably my own fault, early warniong signs were a stiff heat selector, felt like some sort of spring loaded mechanism had seized, could get about 1/3 turn. Turned on heater on full today and all does not sound well. Weak fatring noise lioke sometrhing is revolvig i.e a fan but no blow from the blower, in fact on full it sounds horrible and is doing nothing!!!

Its an April 2002 Sports tourer so well outside its 12 month warranty. Bit surprised as havent heard this sort of thing going so early!!! Only done 15k! Ok so the top is off more than on all year round therefore the blower has had good use - g/f refuses to get in without blower on footwells with driver side blocked by sock and a big thick blanket - strnagely doesnt need any of this when she is driving! Still bit gutted that the liz is "faulty"!

Any ideas before she heads into Sinclaires for her 6 month service and pre winter check up? Any tips on the car also greatly appreciated

Cheers one and all!

Have a look under the front drivers side access panel, you can see the heater box and the linkage from the controls which sounds like it has got jammed. Best not to force it from the knob or things bend.

Good advice Dan - never, ever, ever force your knob
