Hi all

A bit of a wierd one this. My dad has a panasonic video/DVD recorder which he uses when there has been something on TV he wants to keep and re-watch.

However, when he records it only records the sound. Also, if he turns the TV off, it records nothing.

I'm relatively clued up with connecting TVs and stuff but this has me stumped. He has the following connections:-
HDMI from Virgin box to TV
Scart from V box to video/DVD
Scart from video/DVD to TV
HDMI from video/DVD to TV

Would it be some clever trickery the V box is doing to prevent people recording from their service?

Thanks

Ask in the VM help forum.

TBF to them, they are very good at answering these types of technical questions on there. Quite a few of the posters are VM tech people.

I'd start by pulling the Scart between the video and TV - I have similar problems with multiple Scarts and my mum's TV, and since there's an HDMI as well it seems pretty redundant.

Yes, remove the scart between the video and the TV, it is redundant.

On a V+ box the main scart video out is disabled when you set it to use the HDMI out (don't ask me why!) Therefore you must connect the scart to the V+ box 'record out'. Also make sure you use a fully wired scart.
