Wiper Button

Chatsworth didn't go without a minor hitch for me, the wiper button stopped working, wash wipe is fine though. Where do I start looking? Most likely the button, ribbon, control box? Any easy diagnostics to try?

On the bright side at least it didn't happen last year...

So the wipers go when you use the wash wipe? (Can't actually remember if they are supposed to.. That long since I drove mine!!)

Correct, so not the park switch.

Bridge/short pins 1 and 5 to see if it is the switch..

On mine when this happened it turned out to be the little white connector block in the middle of the steering wheel boss (you will see them if you take the steering wheel off). The outside one was for the wiper button and one of my terminals had corroded away.

I bought a pack of tiny female connections from maplin that were almost the same and made them fit in the white connector block.

That said, could be a a prob at a couple of points. Good news it is pretty easy to trouble shoot once you get your head around the wiring diagram. I did and I am pretty stupid!

Hi Paul,

the last time my return switch failed I had very similar problems that were very irregular.
Had to resort to this in the end.

Can someone explain where the wiper control box is? I don't mean the relay box in the passenger footwell (checked that all good), but rather the electronics that controls the intermittent wiper delay etc.

Guessing here, but is it a delay relay?
