Fitting Glass Buttons - some photos but not much to see
Discussion
Ordered some glass buttons from HMW (£220 odd, they give 10% off and the parts arrive direct from Aston Martin).
Lifted up the front of the ski ( I use 2 strips of heat shrink either side of a metal spatular which stops anything getting scratched) and tried to get the buttons out without removing the whole thing. Not possible!
Tried to get the ski off which was simple, but could not figure out how to get the "springs" that connect the sat nav screen to the lid off. Then one sprang out, I thought "oh god" but looking at it the spring arms just tuck into the lid, one left and one right so they come out by moving them to the side and pop back in again also.
Lift off the ski, pull off the connectors at the back of the buttons, remove the buttons - the springs are very very sprung and need a small screwdriver to push them in facilitating removal of the button. Pop in new buttons, put on the connectors and put the ski back on.
Including the learning of how to remove the springs it took 15 minutes. Doing it again would take 10. A dealer in Hammersmith who shall not be named give a fitted and non fitted price on their web site and the difference is 239.84 to fit them. Emm, - that works out at £1439.04 per hour. Not bad, maybe I should change careers!
Worth it? Who knows but they look nice.

Jeremy, the more I see your stereo fascia with the circular bits not coloured so that you can still read the control cut-outs... the more I like it and think it actually looks very right! Would you do me a massive favour and take a close up of one of the controls just so I can get an idea of the finish involved and how it looks under scrutiny?
I think my console may be heading for the same treatment... but in body colour!
I do like green

I replaced only 4.
The issue is that aside from the fact the bill would be daft ( 4 gear / 5 on lower panel / 4 on rear so 13 before you consider the glove box and fuel caps etc) you cant get all of the buttons. On the more recent cars - for which they were designed - things like AC are small silver buttons so these are not available.

Hello, question for you, how did you get a ice high quality masking around the heater controls? Do you have a close-up picture you could post?Lifted up the front of the ski ( I use 2 strips of heat shrink either side of a metal spatular which stops anything getting scratched) and tried to get the buttons out without removing the whole thing.
