Dirty smoke

I looked at a very nice Chim 4.0 at Gatwick TVR last week and, although the car was immaculate, I noticed the exhaust fumes were very dirty and the engine seeemed a bit "rattly".

Is this normal? It was started from stone cold, so maybe this tidies up when warm. I would appreciate some advice.

Anyone have any bad experiences with Gatwick TVR? I can't see any when do a search.

I've used them for servicing for the past 6 years - no problems at all. As long as you get a warranty, I wouldn't worry
