Okay people, the time has come for me to spend more cash.

Basically I am looking for a track day car. I would like it to be road legal but the main use will be track days and the like. An S1 Elise falls into my budget.

I've done a good load of research and spent a lot of time reading the various stories about HGF, red clutch hoses and the like.

However are there any words of wisdon that people can offer with extended track day usage?
Such as, how does the gearbox stand up? Are there any cooling issues? Are there any recommended upgrades I should look?

Cheers

Iain

If you want a track toy then you be better off going for a Sport135 or a 135R (the latter is probably not in your price range though) as they have some of the toys you need.

To make an S1 track focused you need:

Advan Neova tyres
Lotus Sport Suspension/Nitrons
Sports exhaust
Inducton kit
and some kind of engine upgrade

That lot's about £3-4k depending on the engine options you go for.

Otherwise if it's a road legal track toy you want have you thought about a Caterfield maybe evn with a bike engine? They can be had for similar money.

Hi Ians,

I am selling an S2 Sport 135r with hardtop and lotus exhaust. I have a new TVR being delivered end of OCt, so need to get rid pretty quick (i.e cheap).

Why are you turning to the dark side? I hope you specified a heated rear screen as it will keep your hands warm when your pushing it back to the garage

Only joking. What Tiv have you gone for?

Upgraded toe-links are a good idea, and an oil cooler and upgraded radiator may be in order. Take a look at www.eliseparts.com.
