Do you know what the job title is?, will you be out on the ground or in an Op's room. Have you served in the military?.
I've worked out in Iraq on and off since we invaded back in 2003. Basra is relatively safe in comparison to Fallujah or Baghdad but there is still a risk of a road side bomb or ambush if your out on the road or a mortar landing on the Op's room.
I would think long and hard about going out if it's a job with a CP team, it's all very well being able to field strip a Bushmaster or Colt but dealing with a fire fight and casualties and a client that is running scared and everyone around you being hostile is not easy and I wouldn't advise it to anyone who hasn't served in the military.
No one knows how they will react in a fire fight until you have experienced one and the idea of a team taking you out on the road would be highly unlikely if you had no training.

If it's an office job then there is still a threat but greatly reduced obviously. 3 months on and a stop over in Dubai for some rest before coming home for 3 weeks, it's a single persons game if you want to go all the way and make a career out of it.

I think both the Offshore work and Security industry are hard to get into, but once in are hugely rewarding.

Hi

Do you know who it's with? I'm in Basra now and have been working here for 2 years. There are some great companies to work for and some not so great, be careful who you go with.

There are a number of girls working here, some on teams, some in Ops rooms and some medics. The money is good, conditions aren't bad depending on where you go and the threat is a lot lower in the South than it has been in the past.

If you have any specific questions then let me know!
