Hi guys,
I have a windows 2000 pc on a LAN, connected to a netgear router with 6 other PCs.
All was working well, but then it suddenly stopped being able to connect to the internet or email.
I can ping IP addresses of websites, but not domain names, which leads me to think it is a DNS issue.
I can however, ping local PCs by name, aswell as IP (but is this using wins?)

I have removed and re-installed the NIC, checked it is running SP4 etc etc - what else can I try?

Cheers

ipconfig /all

what DNS servers are listed?

Sounds like DNS just isnt working.

ns0.register1.net has address 80.253.109.2
ns1.register1.net has address 80.253.108.3
ns4.register1.net has address 80.253.117.2

Feel Free to use those should you need.

The LAN uses static IPs on each PC, with the DNS servers of the ISP on each one - all other PCs work fine, it is just this one so it doesn't appear to be a network wide issue, just PC specific.

but does ifconfig /all show the Listed DNS servers?

They might have been fiddled with.

Yep always check this to ensure its all tickety boo. Try putting the IP address of the router in as primary DNS. Works a treat on my setup.
