A mate of mine has just bought a very nice 50mm Prime lens for portrait work on a D3100. It has thrown up a very strange problem, when using the live view function the LCD screen is displaying interferance in the form of horizontal black bars moving up the screen. It doesn't appear to affect still images, but it does show up badly with movies even when they are viewed on a PC, so it must be actually happening at sensor level. yikes

The lens is the Nikkor 50mm 1.4 G AF-S, no other lens is causing this.

Any ideas???

No idea on the specific problem.

But general rule of thumb for any body/lens interface issues (even if one or both are BNIB) is to carefully clean the contacts and then "De-Oxit" them.
