This is a cool little stop motion film made by IBM. They achieved it by moving a group of atoms on an individual basis! Pretty neat.

Thats amazing, thanks for sharing! Does anyone know how they would make this? Why do the atoms look like little balls; I never thought they would look like that? And what surface would you film this on? Does anyone on here know enough to explain these?

The image shows (effectively) the electron density of each atom. The scanning tip can be used to move atoms adhering to a surface as well as mapping them.
